Vermont Studio Center Dramatically Increases Fellowship Support
The Vermont Studio Center (VSC) is pleased to announce a major expansion of its core Fellowships program. VSC Fellowships -- open to all visual artists and writers living anywhere in the world -- provide month-long residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and are based entirely on merit. This Fellowships program embodies VSC’s founding commitment to supporting artistic talent worldwide and strengthening its international residency community.
The leap from 50 to 75 annual VSC Fellowships has been made possible thanks to a generous individual contribution, an Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, and the support of VSC’s friends and alumni. Fellowships growth has been a top priority of new VSC President Gary Clark, who says: “As we begin VSC’s next 30 years, what better place to start than by re-affirming the Vermont Studio Center’s commitment to artists and writers. This is what we do, this is why we are here.”
This expansion will begin immediately, with 25 VSC Fellowships offered at the forthcoming February 15th awards deadline, along with 18 additional “designated” fellowships for artists and writers who meet certain eligibility criteria. Twenty-five VSC Fellowships will again be available at both the June 15th and October 1st application deadlines, for a total of seventy-five to be awarded over the course of the year and in the years to come.
Founded by artists in 1984, the Vermont Studio Center is home to a talented and diverse international community of more than 50 visual artists and writers each month.
