Noy Holland’s collections of short fiction and novellas include The Spectacle of the Body (Knopf) and What Begins with Bird (Fiction Collective Two). She has published stories in Conjunctions, The Quarterly, Black Warrior Review, Ploughshares, New York Tyrant, Unsaid, and Glimmer Train, among others. She was a John Gardner Fellow at Bread Loaf, a resident of the MacDowell Colony, a finalist for a Massachusetts Cultural Council award for artistic merit, and a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. She is an Associate Professor at the University of Massachusetts, where she has taught for ten years in the MFA Program. She served as director of the MFA, and is a co-founder of the Juniper Initiative, the umbrella organization that hosts a Writers Work series, a Writers in the Schools Program, the Visiting Writers Series, a summer writing institute, and the annual Juniper Literary Festival. She is married to the writer Sam Michel; they live in a quiet hill town with their two young children.
