Lisa Hoke has a BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and a BA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Recent solo exhibitions include Brattleboro Museum and Art Center in Brattleboro, VT, Elizabeth Harris Gallery in New York, New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain, CT, and Rice University Art Gallery in Houston, TX. Her work has been reviewed in NY Sun, The New York Magazine, Houston Press, Boston Globe, The New York Times, and Art in America. Awards and grants include the Edwin Austin Abbey Fellowship, The National Academy Museum and School of Fine Arts, NY, The Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant
, and Awards in the Visual Arts, SECCA, Winston-Salem, NC. Public Collections include Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University, New Orleans Museum of Art, New York Public Library, Orlando Museum of Art, and Whitney Museum of American Art.
