Jerilea Zempel (b. 1947, Pittsburgh, PA) received a BA and MA from Penn State and an MFA from Columbia. As well as exhibiting in NY galleries and museums, she has built a number of site-specific projects using found objects in the U.S. and Europe. Her awards include two NEA Grants, and fellowships from the NY Foundation for the Arts and the Middle Atlantic Arts Consortium. Zempel teaches at Fordham University. She has also taught at RISD, Maryland Institute College of Art, Bennington and Barnard.
