Hugh O'Donnell was born in London, England and studied at the University of Arts London, Camberwell College of Arts, England. He holds a BA from the University College Falmouth, Cornwall, England and went on to do his thesis at the Royal College of Art. He has worked at the New York Studio School, the University of Brighton, School of Arts and Communication, England, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, and the School of Visual Arts, Boston University. His work is in many museum collections including the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC, the Guggenheim Museum, New York, Tate Gallery, London, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, and The Victoria and Albert Museum, London. O'Donnell also established the Hugh O'Donnell Workshop master class and residency program in Connecticut where he currently resides.
