Emily Cheng has lived and worked in New York City for the last 25 years exhibiting nationally and internationally. Her solo shows in New York include The Bronx Museum, Plum Blossom Gallery, Winston Wachter Fine Art, Bravin Post Lee Gallery, David Beiztel Gallery, and Lang and O'Hara Gallery. She has had three solo shows at the Schmidt Dean Gallery in Philadelphia, and at Hanart Gallery in Hong Kong, Metropolitan Museum of Manila, Philippines; Byron Cohen Gallery in Kansas City; The Cincinnati Center of Contemporary Art, and the Ayala Museum in Manila. Group exhibitions have included MASS MoCA, Contemporary Art Museum at USF, Tampa, Florida; Hammond Museum, NY; Yerba Buena Contemporary Art Center, SF; National Academy of Arts, American Academy of Arts and Letters, NY; Carnegie Mellon University Galleries, Katonah Museum of Art, The Rubin Museum, Sotheby's, NY and Kunsthaus Am Hofgarten Galeriestr, Munich, Germany. Emily received a BFA in painting, in 1975, from Rhode Island School of Design and studied at the New York Studio School for three years. She is the recipient of a fellowship from the New York Foundation of the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, and a Yaddo Fellowship.
