Clytie Alexander was born in 1940 in Lawrence, Kansas and lived in Montreal, Quebec and Bangladesh. She studied music and dance in Bangladesh, engineering and art at Antioch College and art at UCLA. Her work is represented by the Betty Cuningham Gallery, NY where she recently had a solo show. Other recent solo shows include Galleria Peccolo, Livorno, Italy, the Sarah Moody Gallery, University of Alabama, and the Greenfield-Sacks Gallery, Santa Monica. Her work is in many private and public collections including the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO; The Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, CA; and the Weatherspoon Art Gallery, University of North Carolina. Her awards include grants from the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation, the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, and Art Purchase Awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters.  She lives and works in New York and Los Angeles.
