Brook Wilensky-Lanford

Brook Wilensky-Lanford

Brook Wilensky-Lanford, a non-fiction writer of New York City, received one of four VSC Fellowships for outstanding visual artists and writers that were supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.

“I’ve spent the past three years researching and writing a book about the search for the Garden of Eden on earth, so when I learned that the Vermont Studio Center was perched on the edge of the Gihon River, named in the Bible as one of the four rivers flowing out of Eden, I knew it had to be a special place.  But I never could have imagined the amazing community of writers and artists I would have the honor to join.  Their words and images inspired me immeasurably, and their supportive spirit buoyed me along. Watching the artists pursue their own obsessions gave me the space and permission to pursue my own. Spending this month at VSC has been an invaluable gift, which afforded me the time to complete the book and prepare it for publication with a care and nurturing attention that would not have been possible otherwise.  I have treasured my time at the Studio Center and look forward to carrying what I learned here out into the world.”
