Many groups have created Facebook Groups to post photos, announce openings, and organize mini reunions. They are easy to set up: follow FaceBook’s instructions for creating your group. We suggest calling it “VSC [Your Month, Year].”

Past resident groups have organized fellowships for future residents. Examples include the Gihon River Collective, established in 2009 by September Residents as an ongoing collaboration, which has organized a show in London to raise funds to send an artist from the UK to VSC in 2012, and the efforts of a single alumna in 2008 to establish the Kay Evans Memorial Fellowship for Poets.

VSC welcomes your ideas and contributions to a variety of fellowship initiatives designed to create a diverse international community. For more information, please visit our fellowships page or contact Tara Thacker in our development office.

VSC is always looking for new ways to diversify the community and build global relationships.

You can help if you know:

  1. Artists and writers who might benefit from a VSC residency.
  2. Organizations, listservs, and other hubs where artists and writers might look for information about residency opportunities.
  3. Organizations and institutions that might be interested in partnering with VSC to sponsor fellowship opportunities for artists and writers from your home country.
Share your contacts with us, and encourage your friends to join our mailing list.

Three great ways to volunteer include:

Host and organize formal and informal alumni gatherings in your area to re-connect, share ideas and work, and have fun.

Spread the word by including a link to VSC on your personal website, blog, or FaceBook page.

If you're in the VSC neighborhood, we have several opportunities to volunteer on campus.
