Mel Edwards (b. 1937, Houston, TX) lives in NYC, and has taught art at Rutgers since 1972. He has completed 15 public art projects across the US, including the Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. Hudson-Bergen Station in Jersey City, NJ. Collections include the Metropolitan, MOMA, the Brooklyn Museum, the Bronx Museum, the Studio Museum in Harlem, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the LA County Museum of Art in LA. Awards Edwards has received include fellowships from the NEA, the Guggenheim Foundation, and the Joan Mitchell Foundation.
