Matthew Klam is a recipient of a National Endowment of the Arts, a Whiting Writer's Award, an O'Henry Award and a PEN/Robert Bingham Award. He is the author of Sam the Cat, a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book of the Year and a New York Times Notable Book. He is a contributing writer to the New York Times Magazine and GQ Magazine, and has taught creative writing in many places including the University of Michigan, American University, and Stockholm University in Sweden, and is a Visiting Professor at Southampton College in New York. He lives in Washington, D.C.
