Posted on November 10, 2011 by VSC

The Vermont Studio Center is pleased to announce the gallery opening of the 2011 Robert Sterling Clark Foundation Fellows from Africa. The show opens on
Friday, November 11, 2011 in the Red Mill Gallery and runs through Friday, November 18, 2011. An opening reception will take place on Sunday, November 13 from 6:00-7:00 p.m.

Featured artists include Mihret Dawit, a painter from Ethiopia; Lillian Nabulime; a sculptor from Uganda; Beatrice Njoroge, a painter from Kenya; Victor Nyakauru, a sculptor from Zimbabwe; and Smooth Ugochukwu Nzewi, a sculptor from Nigeria.

The Robert Sterling Clark Foundation Fellowships at the Vermont Studio Center (VSC) were established to support the development of international artists and to broaden their opportunities for intercultural dialogue inthe United States.

2011 marks the inaugural year of the program, and the five fellows have spent two months working at VSC with 70 other artists in residence, providing all residents with an exciting opportunity for exchange and dialogue.

The program continues in 2012, when VSC will welcome five fellows from South America to the community.
